Gage Health & Safety specialise in supporting the events industry with food safety, allergen management and health and safety advice.
We aim to provide a constructive and positive experience for clients, promoting best practice whilst ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
Our experienced team of qualified environmental health practitioners understand the language and expectations of local authorities and also the commercial pressures facing businesses and are adept at finding safe and workable solutions in demanding event environments.
The Company Director, Dr Surindar Dhesi, is a chartered environmental health practitioner with over 20 years’ experience across local government regulation, private sector consultancy and academic roles. Surindar is also listed on the Occupational Safety and Health Consultants Register (OSHCR).
Support for Event Organisers
We provide support for organisers planning and delivering a range of events from large outdoor festivals with on-site camping to indoor trade shows.
We are experienced at working in major venues including the NEC, Olympia, ExCel and Truman Brewery as well as outdoor locations such as Regent’s Park and the Pub in the Park circuit.
We work with organisers to build-in food safety across event planning and delivery; advising sales teams, contributing to exhibitor manuals, checking pre-event documentation for exhibitors and features, liaising with local authorities, auditing during show-open as part of operations teams, and providing detailed post-event reports with clear and constructive recommendations for the future.
Some event organisers, particularly those with venue exclusivity, commission us to carry out food safety audits of caterers as part of their ongoing approval schemes. This service includes the provision of detailed audit reports including actions required to pass, where appropriate.

Support for Caterers
We provide ongoing consultancy support to event caterers, specialising in the festival and wedding sectors.
As part of this service we work with caterers to develop their food safety management systems and to effectively manage and communicate allergen information through the entire process from purchase of raw materials to service.
We carry out audits as required in central kitchens and at event venues and provide support for positive interactions with local authority environmental health practitioners and external auditors. Please get in touch to discuss how we might support your business.

Support for Venues
We provide support for venue managers in several ways including as approved food hygiene safety contractors for events taking place within specific venues, including the NEC and ExCel.
We work closely and constructively with venue food safety teams and account managers to ensure food safety, effective allergen management and to minimise waste to landfill.
Some event venues with their own food offerings commission us to carry out food safety audits of suppliers and in-house caterers as part of their ongoing approval and assurance schemes.
